YEREVAN. – The Armenian government approved on Thursday a draft agreement on agricultural cooperation with Switzerland.

Agriculture Minister Sergo Karapetyan said cooperation will include such sectors as cattle breeding, genetic improvement of livestock.

Other directions for cooperation are a joint program for the development of organic and sustainable agriculture, improvement of milk production, modernization of processing technologies in the food industry, development of agricultural cooperation, prevention of epizootic diseases.

Armenia and Switzerland launched cooperation in the late 90s: Swiss company Andre Group financed the restoration of Soviet-era canneries in Armavir (now “MAP”), Echmiadzin, Masis and Artashat (“ArtFood”).
