YEREVAN. – A Karabakh official called to take a cold-blooded approach to the statement by Nursultan Nazarbayev as it referred to Armenia's joining Customs Union and was not related to Eurasian Economic Union.

Davit Babayan, spokesperson for the Karabakh president, commented for Armenian News-NEWS.am on the remark by the Kazakhstan President who called on Armenia to join without Karabakh.

“This means we should wait a little and see how the Customs Union will develop, and then we can speak about Eurasian Customs Union,” Babayan said.

Secondly, Babyan said NKR can become a member of Eurasian Economic Union as a separate and independent state.

“Armenia has its borders and there is no sense to consider NKR as a part of Armenia. Of course, there are close economic ties between Armenia and NKR, but this does not mean the relations should be damaged or Armenia should choose between Customs Union, Eurasian Customs Union, Artsakh and its future. One should not be conditioned by another,” Babayan added.

During the meeting in Astana, Nazarbayev addressed Serzh Sargsyan with “an unpleasant topic”.

“Not to instigate a person in Azerbaijan ],  you joined the WTO this way, and you need to join the Eurasian Union within the borders recognized by the UN, with a reservation,” Nzarbayev said.
