YEREVAN. – Custom Union is an economic alliance formally having no relation to the settlement of conflicts, political analyst Alexander Iskandaryan told reporters.
The expert said settlement of Karabakh conflict is an extremely tough process that is impossible to achieve the solution today.
“I would replace the word settlement by a status quo, Customs Union undoubtedly contributes to preservation of status quo. Armenia has decided to join the CU September 3 on the basis of security priorities. The method of interaction with Russia in the field of security is a factor that allows you to save that balance in a conflict as it is,” Iskandaryan said.
This format was possible only if on September 3 President Serzh Sargsyan announced country's intention to join the Customs Union.
