YEREVAN. – Armenian political analyst Alexander Iskandaryan believes sharp increase in the number of incidents on Karabakh-Azerbaijan border has no relation to war. Shooting and war are different things, he told reporters on Monday.

Iskandaryan noted that the increase in number of incidents is explained first by internal political situation in Azerbaijan.

“This is one of the options to influence the situation: Azerbaijan is constantly interested in showing the international community its disagreement with status quo, and secondly Azerbaijan is trying to influence the society,” he said.

Societies of the two Armenian states, the expert said, are societies that won the war. And the Azerbaijani society, in his opinion, is in frustration, feels as they lost territory.

“In all international platforms they are told that the problem should be resolved peacefully, and they should hold negotiations. This lasts 20 years, and will apparently continue,” he resumed.
