YEREVAN. – Armenia needs 1.5-2 thousand IT experts every year, Economy Minister Karen Chshmarityan said in the parliament on Monday.
The problem of training that many experts has not been solved yet, he said, adding that IT specialist job is at high demand, taking into account that 10,740 are already working in the sector.
A total of 380 companies IT companies, 155 of them with foreign capital, are working with a turnover of $380 million per year.
Around $193,000 was allocated to support Gyumri Technology Center, the Minister said.
The main share of IT programs falls on private secto,r in particular the annual exhibition DigiTec and Ditgitec Business organized by the Union of Information Technology Enterprises of Armenia (UITE), development grants by CRDF.
