YEREVAN. – Russia, by supplying weapons to Azerbaijan, makes Armenia abide by any decision of the Kremlin.
Armenian Center for National and International Studies Director, political scientist Manvel Sargsyan expressed such a view at a press conference on Tuesday commenting on official Moscow’s policy in the post-Soviet expanse.

As per Sargsyan, thereby a very strong lever is formed to exert pressure on official Yerevan, since an immediate threat arises for Armenia’s national security.

“Furthermore, we [the Armenian side] are being deprived of the right to submit claims. No one says aloud why the Kremlin does not recognize Nagorno-Karabakh, sells large quantities of weapons to our adversary, [and] hampers the development of [Armenia’s] economic ties with Iran,” the analyst noted.

Manvel Sargsyan also drew attention to the fact that, by selling weapons to Azerbaijan, official Moscow is strengthening bilateral ties thus keeping official Baku away from the influence of the West.
