YEREVAN. – Between May 2013 and May 2014, the prices in Armenia have increased by 3.6 percent, National Statistical Service official Gurgen Martirosyan told reporters on Tuesday. 

In addition, as per Martirosyan, the prices of food products—including alcohol and cigarettes—rose by 1.9 percent, the non-food product prices grew by 2 percent, and the service prices soared by 7.8 percent. The latter is primarily due to the increase in the electricity and natural gas prices. 

Furthermore, the vegetable and potato prices rose by 18.7 percent, eggs by 1.2 percent, and the bread product prices grew by 0.5 percent.

The prices of sugar and fruits, however, have dropped by 23 and 16.2 percent, respectively.
