YEREVAN. –  President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan said the Karabakh conflict cannot be solved by force.

“The treats of using force are damaging the peace process,” President said during a joint briefing with OSCE Chairperson-in-Office  Didier Burkhalter.

In this context the president recalled about necessity to respect the people of Nagorno-Karabakh.

“When someone mentions confidence building measures, we note the priority of showing respect towards the people of Nagorno-Karabakh,” he said.

It is national liberation struggle, and there can be no solution without taking into account this fact.

“The position and opinion of Karabakh people must be taken into account so that the process could be effective,” the Armenian leader explained.

President Sargsyan thanked Switzerland for the efforts on normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations. He expressed confidence that a blockade carried out by Turkey must be in the focus of international organizations, including OSCE.
