YEREVAN. – The Larsi Highway near the Georgian border checkpoint, and which leads to the Armenian border, is still closed for traffic.

But the post-landslide road cleaning has resumed as of Friday at 10am, informed the news service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia.

Information was received from the Emergency Situations Department of Georgia, on May 17 at 2:43pm, that a landslide had occurred at Larsi. As a result, there were eight people were missing. The dead body of one of them was found in a local hospital, and two more dead bodies were discovered on the same day, but they were unrecognizable. The missing persons include Armenians—Russian citizens Karpo Poghosov (born 1957) and Georgy Gevorgov—about whom there is no information yet.

On May 18, eleven Armenian citizens, who were not affected by the landslide, were moved to a safe area away from the disaster zone.
