YEREVAN. – A new nursery yard officially opened Thursday at the Yerevan Botanical Garden in Armenia’s capital city, the “EcoLur” NGO reported.

The new nursery yard was created by the combined efforts of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF)-Armenia and the Institute of Botany of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia.

“The creation of the nursery yard has three objectives. First, the restoration of 70 hectares of forest land. Second, the creation of new sources of income for the local population. And third, the creation of a forest nursery,” WWF-Armenia Forestry Program Coordinator Artur Alaverdyan told “EcoLur.”

The new nursery yard was created within the framework of a WWF-Switzerland-funded project, and its creation cost 20,000 euros.
