STEPANAKERT. – Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), or Artsakh, President Bako Sahakyan on Wednesday signed a decree.

Accordingly,  Armen Avetisyan—NKR Defense Army division machine gunner of the first rifle section of the first rifle platoon of the third rifle battalion—has been posthumously awarded with the “For Service in Battle” medal for his bravery during the defense of the NKR state borders, informed the Central Information Department of the Office of the NKR President.

As reported earlier, Armenian military serviceman Armen Avetisyan, 19, received a fatal bullet wound from a shot fired by the adversary on Tuesday at around 10:50pm.

Avetisyan was fatally wounded at a military base of a protection area of an NKR Defense Army unit stationed in an easterly direction of the Line of Contact between the Karabakh-Azerbaijani opposing forces.

An investigation is carried out to find out the details of the incident.
