YEREVAN. – The Special Investigation Service (SIS) of Armenia has opened a criminal case against capital city Yerevan Deputy Chief of Police Valeri Osipyan, SIS Press Secretary Mikayel Aharonyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
According to him, the criminal case was instituted on the basis of media reports.
On the night of June 1, Valeri Osipyan’s nephew had stabbed Vanush Aleksanyan, 22. Subsequently, there were media reports stating that the Yerevan deputy police chief had met with the mother of one of the persons involved in the aforesaid incident, and attempted to reach an agreement with her so as to lay all the blame for the stabbing on the woman’s son.
