Turkey's Foreign Ministry officially dismissed reports about alleged opening of Armenia-Turkey border in September.

The statement issued by the Turkish foreign office said the reports about opening of Alican checkpoint on the border with Armenia are untrue.

On Friday Turkish newspaper Taraf said Prime Minister Erdogan had allegedly instructed to open the border with Armenia in September.

The statement notes that Turkey-Armenia border was closed in 1993 “as a result of Armenia’s occupation of Azerbaijani lands”.

The statement says the opening of this border can be brought into  agenda only in  case of developments that would enable comprehensive and continuous normalization in South Caucasus.  In this context it will be significant for Armenia to show the will to solve its problems with all  neighbors and take respective steps.
