The elections for the heads of Georgia’s regional councils are held.
As a result, Georgian-Armenian Hamlet Movsisyan was reelected head of the Akhalkalaki Regional Council.
Artak Gabrielyan, who is coordinator of the Armenian NGOs’ Council of Javakheti—which is a predominantly-Armenian-populated part of Georgia’s southeastern Samtskhe-Javakheti Province—told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.
In his words, however, there was no general run-off in the local government elections.
“The Regional Council, or the Regional Board appoints the mayor of Akhalkalaki. And in the first round, the authorities’ representative Eduard Aghaseryan was elected Regional Board director,” Gabrielyan added.
