The U.S. Co-Chair of OSCE Minsk Group James Warlick said the time has also come to enter into negotiations that can result in a peace agreement.

The diplomat extended his sincere condolences to the families of those killed in the recent violence.

“I hope that the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan will agree to meet in the near future to discuss key issues. The time has also come to enter into negotiations that can result in a peace agreement. If the parties are truly committed to a settlement, they should accept the Swiss proposal to enter into a structure negotiating process with the Co-Chairs,” he told APA agency.

He once again said that there is no military solution to the conflict and expressed concern over reports of high numbers of casualties along the Line of Contact

“These violent incidents are a setback to efforts to reach a peaceful settlement and I urge the sides to take every measure to adhere to the ceasefire,” Warlick said, adding that the Minsk Group remains the only format for mediation accepted by the parties.
