YEREVAN. – Four or five companies have showed interest in construction of solar power plants, chairman of Armenia's renewable energy fund Tamara Babayan told reporters.

The companies are interested in Armenia's solar energy potential as well as favorable legal framework.

“According to legislative amendments approved in June, the alternative energy facilities are receiving the guaranteed sales network for over 20 years. It is left to establish the tariff for solar electricity generation,” Babayan explained.

In early 2000s an Armenian-Dutch program “ArmNedSun” was held to measure solar radiation and choose regions with high potential for solar energy that provoked the interest of Dutch and German companies.
