Russia plans to develop ties with Asia-Pacific states more actively, Russian Deputy FM Vasily Nebenzya said.

This region becomes particularly important for Russia amid current geopolitical situation, ITAR-TASS quotes Nebenzya.

However, the Russian official said they are not gong to distance themselves from traditional partners, although “they are doing much themselves to curtail, freeze and impose sanctions on this co-operation”.

Moscow is faced with a task to diversify economic activity, he noted, adding that further co-operation with Asia-Pacific states will yield results.
