YEREVAN. – If the tension reduces on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border following Sunday’s meeting in Sochi, Russia, of the presidents of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan, this can be considered a progress.
Non-pro-government Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) National Assembly Faction Secretary Naira Zohrabyan told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.
But at the same time, as per the MP, the reduction of the tension on the border does not solve the problem.
“The problem should be solved categorically, clarifying which side is refusing to remove the snipers from the border, which side is directly threatening with war, and is making fascist statements,” Zohrabyan added.
The PAP deputy also noted that she had no expectation from the aforesaid meeting in terms of the fascist rhetoric by the top Azerbaijani leadership.
“The issue here is that the international community, the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries didn’t react in any way to [Azerbaijan President Ilham] Aliyev’s statement, during a meeting with representatives of the diplomatic corps, when he promised to level Armenia to the ground,” Naira Zohrabyan said.
