YEREVAN. – There is a general view that the sanctions against Russia may have negative consequences also for the economy of Armenia, President Serzh Sargsyan noted on the air of Armnews television.

“I cannot refute this premise; but it’s solely a premise. As for preventive measures, such measures are envisiomned in the government program of Armenia. We need to conduct a correct macroeconomic policy, stimulate the economy to record economic growth. I believe the important thing is to have [economic] growth, so we may be able to also make use of the newly emerged opportunities.

“Many great opportunities have opened in the Russian market for our agricultural producers. We will encourage the people to produce more food products. We will create all opportunities for these products to be sold in the Russian Federation. But the most important is work,” Sargsyan stated, in particular.
