YEREVAN. – The meeting in Sochi was Moscow's attempt to show the world that “a bear” is an owner in the South Caucasus, political analyst Ruben Mehrabyan said during a press conference on Monday.

This is proved by Kremlin's policy, in particular the fact, that none of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs has been invited to the meeting as well as by Putin's statement on “particularly close relations and deep background” enabling to have since exchange of views.

Besides, amid Ukrainian developments President Putin wanted to act as a mediator in the eyes of international community and give to understand that Russia is a key partner in supporting international peace and security.

A trilateral meeting of Armenian, Russian and Azerbaijani presidents was held in Sochi on Sunday.

“Of course, we respect all international formats and we will continue to work with our colleagues. But we proceed from the fact that we still have very close relationship and deep background that allows us to frankly exchange views on where we are and what should be done in order to move forward in resolving all these problems that we have inherited from the past,” Putin said.
