YEREVAN. – Nare and Davit were the most popular newly born names in Armenia in the first half of this year.

Armenian National Statistical Service official Karine Kuyumjyan said the aforementioned at a press conference on Monday.

After Nare, the most popular names for newly born girls were Milena, Mari, Mane, and Anahit.

As for the names given to the newly born boys, Davit was followed by Narek, Gor, Alex, and Hayk.

Kuyumjyan added that this year there is also statistics on the surnames of Armenia’s newborns. Accordingly, Harutyunyan was the most common surname among the girls who were born last year, and Sargsyan was the most prevalent surname among the boys.
