A young lion, which is kept in a zoo in Poland, has attacked the youngest of the three female lions and strangled her, Interfax news agency reported.
The zoo workers had attempted to separate the animals by directing strong water current on their tents, but their efforts were unsuccessful. The lion released the female ten minutes later.
“Now, we can’t be sure that the lion will not strangle the other young females,” the zoo director told reporters, and added that he does not understand what could be the cause of this incident.
The news agency recalled that the four-year-old male lion, which is named Arko, was brought to the Polish zoo from Lisbon Zoo in Portugal, and more than a week ago.
