U.S. clearly showed that it wants continuation of the Armenian-Turkish reconciliation process, the head of Caucasus Institute, political expert Alexander Iskandaryan told the journalists on Wednesday. He noted that Clinton’s visit hinted precise steps are expected from Turkey.

“The fact that Washington welcomes Armenian authorities’ policy, makes it clear that U.S. is interested in the opening of Armenian-Turkish border,” he said. The expert deems that the border opening is only a matter of time. There is a slight chance that the borders will be open without ratification, he added.

As to Clinton’s visit to the Genocide memorial complex, Iskandaryan stressed she could not but do it. “In Yerevan she visited the Genocide memorial, whereas in Baku – the Alley of Martyrs. It would be a diplomatic slap to any of the countries, if she failed to do it,” he emphasized.
