YEREVAN. – A group of citizens of Armenia will hold a candlelight vigil, on Tuesday at Liberty Square in capital city Yerevan, to commemorate the Avetisyan family, which was brutally murdered in Gyumri city.

“This is the pain of us all, and it is our duty to pay tribute as a nation to our countrymen,” the event’s Facebook page specifically reads.

Six members of the Avetisyan family were shot dead and a six-month-old baby was wounded in their house in Gyumri on Monday. Valery Permyakov, a serviceman of the city’s Russian 102nd Military Base, is the main suspect in this crime. Permyakov was apprehended near the Armenian-Turkish border, in the vicinity of Armenia’s Bayandur village. The Armenian and Russian sides are discussing the avenues for joining the two respective criminal cases that have been filed, and whether the case will be examined in Armenia, or in Russia.
