The Coordination Council of the Armenian Organizations of France (CCAF) noted with regret that their fears and concerns about Ankara's attempts to interfere with the commemorative events in connection with the centenary of the Armenian Genocide have come true, Nouvelles d'Arménie reported.

Earlier on Friday Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan invited his Armenian counterpart to attend events marking the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli Battle on April 24 – the day when Armenians mark centennial of the Armenian Genocide.

In a statement issued on Friday, CCAF said Turkish president's manoeuvre is clearly aimed at neutralising the presence of heads of state in Yerevan by making them choose. Ankara's task is to overshadow the date so that the date could get less international response – the move that clearly continues the policy of denial adopted by Ankara, Armenians of France said.

CCAF expects that democratic states will upset the roughly-made trap set by the Turkish authorities, that are becoming more cynical.
