Azerbaijani journalist Khadija Ismailova, who is imprisoned on trumped-up charges, was kept in solitary confinement.

Attorney Yalcin Imanov, who on Wednesday visited the journalist, informed about the above-said to Turan news agency of Azerbaijan.

Ismailova was imprisoned in solitary confinement for one day, and for the publication of her article in the media.

The journalist was asked how she had managed to send her article to the press, and she had responded: “Through telepathy.” Subsequently, she was sent to solitary confinement.

Furthermore, Ismailova’s prison cell was searched and all of her notes were confiscated.

Imanov considers these actions unlawful because, according to him, a prisoner can be taken to solitary confinement solely for the violation of law and order. In his view, the journalist’s article that had appeared in the media was not a violation, and detainees and prisoners have the right to freedom of speech and having their articles published in the press.
