The Office of the Prime Minister of Turkey has informed that a total of 1,014 properties and estates have been returned so far to the national minorities of the country.

Ever since the amendments that were made in 2008 to the Law on Foundations, the Directorate General of Foundations of Turkey has transferred 1,014 estates and properties to the foundations of the country’s national minorities, reported Demokrathaber website of Turkey.

In addition, the petitions, with respect to the return of 150 more estates and properties, are under consideration.

It is noted that a total of 165 foundations belonging to ethnic and religious minorities are currently functioning in Turkey; 76 of them are Greek while 53 are Armenian, 19 are Jewish, and 10 are Assyrian foundations.
