YEREVAN. – Armenia has proved that it seeks a normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations; this was no surprise to the international community, and it is not us who has stopped the normalization process.
Ruling Republican Party of Armenia MP Levon Martirosyan stated the abovementioned at a press conference on Thursday, as he commented on the decision to withdraw the Armenian-Turkish protocols from the Armenian parliament.
In the MP’s words, he was in favor of these protocols from the very beginning, and the positive aspects of these documents will be sensed still for a long time.
As per Martirosyan, however, the President had to recall these protocols in the lead-up to the Armenian Genocide centenary, when Turkey has not taken any steps to normalize relations.
“[But] this does not mean that this document can no longer be signed in the future. It will be possible to re-sign these protocols, if necessary. I’m confident that, by way of such protocols, the Armenian-Turkish relations will be normalized sooner or later,” Levon Martirosyan stressed.
As reported earlier, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan on Monday addressed with a letter to National Assembly Speaker Galust Sahakyan, and informed him that he has decided to recall the Armenian-Turkish protocols from the parliament.
