Fresno County Supervisor Andreas Borgeas will visit Nagorno Karabakh Republic as an observer during the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Borgeas and two more US representatives will visit NKR from April 25 to May 5, as reported by fresnobee.com. Among other observers to watch the elections are representatives from other countries including Mexico, Argentina and Canada.
Borgeas said local Armenians are proud of his visit to NKR. His wife is Armenian and her grandmother was one of the survivors of the Armenian Genocide.
“On a personal level, I think the Armenians in Fresno will be proud to know they are represented as observers in this very important election that promotes the free and sovereign state of Nagorno-Karabakh,” he said.
Andreas Borgeas initiated the resolution officially recognizing the NKR independence.
