The macroeconomic criteria, which serve as basis for Armenian state budget, won’t undergo significant changes after joining the Eurasian Economic Union, Member of the Board (Minister) in charge of Economy and Financial Policy Timur Suleymenov told Armenian News – NEWS.am.

He said that the EEU principle macroeconomic criteria coincide with the Maastricht ones. Thus, ratio of government debt relative to GDP must not exceed 50 per cent, while the budget deficit must not exceed 3 per cent of GDP. Besides, the rates of national currency included in the state budget are adjusted to dollar. Lastly, the oil price forecasts are correlated in case of Russia and Kazakhstan (for known reasons this does not apply to Armenia).

“EEC does not directly interfere with the formation of national budgets,” Suleymanov said.
