In Taksim Square of Istanbul thousands of citizens honored the memory of the Armenian Genocide victims Friday evening.

The mourning event, organized by the Platform for Commemorating the Armenian Genocide, was attended by MP candidates of the Kurdish National-democratic party, politicians, art experts, guests from different countries of the world, including members of Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU), and thousands of citizens.

The participants of the event, which started at 19:15 yesterday, demanded justice and recognition.

The participants also urged the government not to speak about shared pain and condolences, but to apologize and confront its past instead.
