YEREVAN: It’s necessary to understand whether the new draft bill will help the Armenian builders in Russia, Mikayel Melkumyan, Prosperous Armenia faction MP and Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs  Committee Deputy Chair stated in the Parliament Tuesday, referring to the draft of amendments to the Law on Income Tax. The draft proposes to tax 13 per cent of the income of Armenian employees working abroad within Armenian companies.

The government is planning to create favorable conditions for Armenian construction companies, which claim for tendering abroad, specifically in Russia. But in that case it’s necessary to define the scope of the exercise of law. “How many qualified Armenian builders are there in Russia and what amount of income tax is the government considering to collect from them? This question must be answered,” Melkumyan said.

“It’s necessary to understand whether the draft bill will help Armenian companies take part in, say, construction tendering in Russia and whether such a bill can backfire,” he said.
