YEREVAN. – The military physicians, who are at the basis of the formation of the Armenian Armed Forces, have had a particular importance in the victory in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).

The Minister of Defense of Armenia, Seyran Ohanyan, stated the aforementioned at Thursday’s official opening—at Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU)—of a museum dedicated to military doctors (PHOTOS).

“I believe, along with the [Armenian] Genocide 100th anniversary events, it is indispensible that we celebrate the victories we have had during the Patriotic War [in World War II] and the Artsakh Liberation War, alike” Ohanyan said. “We have repeatedly underscored the importance of a military doctor not solely during war, but in time of peace.”

In the minister’s words, the opening of this museum is the most important thing for recording memories.

In addition, Seyran Ohanyan presented awards to the physicians who participated in the Karabakh War, and the staff and cadets of the YSMU Faculty of Military Medicine.
