Payam Akhavan, former UN prosecutor at The Hague and lead international counsel, said that if Turkey’s Constitutional Court doesn’t uphold the claim regarding the return of the Sis Catolicosate (currently located in Turkey), they will file an application with ECHR.

In an interview given to the Armenian Agos newspaper published in Istanbul, Payam Akhavan said that the compensation claim filed with Turkey’s Constitutional Court by the Patriarchate of Cilicia, was prepared by a small and independent group.

He said that many Armenians are interested in this case, however they do not intend to shift the case from legal to civil field.

According to Akhavan, if Turkey’s Constitutional Court proposes no solutions to the matter, they are going to apply to the ECHR.
