Difficulties of the Eastern Partnership Riga Summit show that EU has to rethink its strategy with the neighbourhood countries, Henri Malosse, President of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) wrote in his Twitter page.

On May 21-22 the fourth Eastern Partnership Summit took place in Riga, in the follow-up of which a Joint declaration was approved despite certain discrepancies between the participants over the Crimea question. Specifically, Belarus and Armenia refused to sign the final declaration because of the provision on the ‘illegal annexation of Crimea.’ Аzerbaijan refused to sign the document because it attached ‘insufficient attention’ to the Nagorno-Karabakh question.
