YEREVAN. – Turkey’s pro-Kurdish “Peoples’ Democratic Party” (HDP) is the country’s political force that is most interested in the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations, turkologist Gevorg Petrosyan said at a press conference on Saturday.
He added, however, that changes should not be expected immediately even if the HDP were to enter the Turkish parliament as a result of the country’s parliamentary elections to be held on Sunday.
“However, it will be the force that will raise, at the parliament, the matter of normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations,” Petrosyan stressed.
The turkologist noted that if the party enters into parliament, this will complicate the holding of constitutional reforms with the scenario President Recep Tayyip Erdogan plans. So, as per Gevorg Petrosyan, Erdogan’s main task is not to allow the HDP to enter the Turkish parliament.
