During the Sheep Shearing Festival held today on the territory adjacent to Halidzor station of TaTever ropeway in Armenia’s Syunik province, Verishen community resident Seyran Mkrtchyan won the 1st prize, Initiatives for Development of Armenia (IDeA) foundation representatives told Armenian News – NEWS.am.

Armenia’s Shournukh community representative Garegin Dallakyan and Khot community representative Hrant Galstyan won the 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively. 

The winners, who competed through three stages, were elected according to the speed and quality of sheep shearing. The winners of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded photo camera, mobile phone and watch respectively.

9 representatives from Armenia’s 8 communities included in the Tatev Revival Project took part in the competition.

The festival was accompanied by song and dance; residents of different communities presented their local product in the pavilions.  

The Festival was held for the second time. It was organized in cooperation with Tatev Rebirth Project, Homeland Development Initiative Foundation and Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO.
