Around 200 residents of Ohanavan, Karbi, and Ushi villages of Armenia’s Aragatsotn Province staged a protest Wednesday in Ohanavan village, and against the planned electricity price increase in the country.

Ohanavan resident Vladimir Geghamyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that this increase is unfounded, and they will fight until the end.

The villagers said they will organize a picket on June 19, too, and residents of the three villages may even join the demonstration to be held in capital city Yerevan.

The police patrolled the protest in Ohanavan.

The Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) on Tuesday introduced a draft decision, according to which the price of electricity in Armenia will increase by 6.93 drams per cubic meter. On June 17, the PSRC is expected to approve this decision.

If this decision is approved, it is expected to be followed by an increase in the prices of first necessity goods in Armenia.
