YEREVAN. – Mayor of Gyumri, Armenia's second largest city, supports fair demands of the protesters calling not to increase electricity price.

In a statement issued by Gyumri municipality, Samvel Balasanyan said he is concerned over difficult social conditions and social problems that the hike in electricity prices may provoke.

“Any interference of the law enforcement officers must be in accordance with the letter of the law and the Constitution,” he said, expressing regret over clashes between protesters and law enforcers.

The Mayor is hopeful the situation will be resolved without any consequences.
