Ecuador’s Galapagos Archipelago topped the rating of the best islands in the world, The Daily Mail reports, referring to the voting by readers of the US-based Travel + Leisure magazine.

According to the survey among its auditorium, the newspaper made the top-list of the ten most attractive islands. Besides Galapagos, the top 3 leading islands include Bali and Maldives, which are followed by Tasmania and Santorini.

The sixth place was taken by Moorea (French Polynesia), while the seventh and eighth places belong to Hawaian Maui Islands and Kauai respectively. The ninth and tenth places are occupied by Great Barrier Reef Islands (Australia) and Malta.  

According to The Daily Mail, Galapagos is home to 18 main islands and is famous for its marine life and rare species of birds and plants.

Besides, the islands are famous because Charles Darwin developed his theory of evolution while studying wildlife there, Lenta reports.
