President of Russia Vladimir Putin is ready to meet with U.S. leader Barack Obama in New York, Russian FM Sergey Lavrov said.

He added that the American partners are sending a message that they want to continue the contacts, Interfax reported.

“If there is a proposal on their side, I think, our president will consider it,” he told reporters.

Lavrov noted that UN General Assembly is not the only platform where presidents of Russia and U.S. can meet.
