Message dating from between 1904-1906 was discovered in a bottle on the German Amrum island. The message is most probably the oldest one in the world.  

Scientists released over 1,000 bottles into the North Sea in the early 20th century to find out more about bottom-water movements.

The message in the bottle requested to send it to the Marine Biological Association of the U.K, along with information about when and where they discovered the bottle.

The message promised a "one shilling reward" to anyone who returned it to the association, TASS reports.

The association is now looking into having the Guinness Book of Records recognize the message in the bottle found on Amrum island as the oldest ever found. The current record-holder is a message dating from 1914, which was found 99 years later.
