The Turkish ruling Justice and Development Party officially declared that the recent reports on party’s talks with the Kurdish rebels are untrue. The statement was posted on the party’s official website.
“Some media outlets, referring to the PKK sources, have recently reported that the Turkish state came to an agreement with Abdullah Ocalan and PKK. Our people should realize that the Justice and Development Party will never negotiate with an illegal organization,” the statement reads.
According to the Turkish press, representative of Kurdistan Workers’ Party Murat Karayilan stated that unilateral ceasefire declared by the Kurdish militants is a result of the talks held with the Turkish leadership and PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan sentenced to life imprisonment.
