The photo of a Syrian refugee cradling his kitten has gone viral in Twitter, Lenta.ru reports, citing Huffington Post.
The refugee has arrived in the Greek Lesbos Island via sea, bringing his kitten with him.
According to media outlets, this photo demonstrates “an otherwise bleak humanitarian tragedy.”
The name of the refugee is yet unknown, while his kitten’s name is Zaytouna (Arabic for “olive”). The owner brought it to Greece in a hand-made sling.
According to the UN statement, the number of Syrian refugees has exceeded 4 million since the beginning of a civil war in 2011. Another 7,6 million Syrian refugees had to leave their houses, still staying in the territory of Syria.
