Information on establishing a Russian military base in Azerbaijan, disseminated in German media, is provocative in nature, Aydin Mirzazade, Deputy Chairman of the Security and Defense Committee of the Azerbaijani government and representative of the ruling Yeni Azerbaijan party told Trend.
“This information is groundless, since under the Military Dosctrine of Azerbaijan military bases of other countries cannot be established in our country,” he said.
According to Mirzazade, such misinformation was disseminated in the framework of the anti-Azerbaijani campaign, conducted in Europe, which aims to spoil the good relations of Azerbaijan with its neighbors.
According to Mirzazade, disseminating such information attempts to spoil the relations between the two countries, creating additional obstacles to the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and pushing Azerbaijan to adventurous actions.
According to Deutche Welle, Russia may promise Azerbaijan to transfer part of the territories in exchange for the opening of a military base on its territory.
