YEREVAN. – Next year’s annual conference of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) will be devoted to the challenges of landlocked countries.

Executive Secretary of ESCAP, Shamshad Akhtar, stated the aforementioned during Sunday’s talk at the UN Headquarters in New York, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Edward Nalbandian.

Akhtar also briefed Nalbandian on the activities of the UNESCAP, informed the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.

In addition, the interlocutors conferred on the avenues for Armenia-UNESCAP cooperation.

On the same day, Edward Nalbandian received delegation from the American Jewish Committee (AJC).

The FM highly praised the AJC’s principled stance regarding the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. He also underscored the joint international efforts to condemn and prevent crimes against humanity.

The parties exchanged views on the ongoing processes in South Caucasus and the Middle East, and on several key regional and international issues.
