YEREVAN. - The 66th anniversary of the National Day of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) was marked in Yerevan today. The event was attended by Armenia’s PM Hovik Abrahamyan, representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in Armenia, members of Armenian parliament and other guests.

In his welcome speech, China’s Ambassador to Armenia Jian Erlun said that 2015 is a special year in terms of deepening relations between Armenia and China. The Ambassador also referred to the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s and PM Hovik Abrahamyan’s visit to China.

“China is the second trade partner of Armenia according to its size, and the countries are currently exerting every effort to implement the agreements reached by the leaders of both countries,” the Ambassador said.

According to him, the Chinese authorities are now working on a major Silk Road project. “I’m sure this project will open historically new opportunities for the development of multi-lateral cooperation between China and Armenia,” Jian Erlun said.

He also mentioned that China remembers the participation of thousands of Armenian soldiers within the Soviet Army in the struggle against Nazism in northeastern China.
