The opposition National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) of Azerbaijan considered Sunday’s parliamentary election in the country as the “most shameful in Azerbaijan’s history.”

Contact.az news agency of the country reported that the NCDF’s respective statement noted that it was clear still before the voting that it will not be free and fair, that the repression continued also during the election campaign season, and that the election commissions remained under government control.

The statement also said that due to massive violations of the law, 500 candidates had withdrawn their candidacy.

According to the NCDF data, the actual voter turnout did not exceed 10 percent.

The National Council of Democratic Forces added that Sunday’s parliamentary voting does not reflect the will of the Azerbaijani people, and it was completely rigged and illegitimate.
