YEREVAN. - The joint march of the “No” front uniting the opponents of the constitutional amendments in Armenia passed without any incidents. It finished in Yerevan’s Liberty Square (photos)

The march was led by the head of opposition “Heritage” party Raffi Hovannisian, freedom fighter and opposition “Founding Parliament” initiative member Jirayr Sefilian, representatives of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) Aram Manukyan and Levon Zurabyan, as well as the leader of People’s Party of Armenia (PPA) Stepan Demirchyan. 

The march was controlled by the policemen, and the governmental building was completely “chained” by the police human shield. During the entire march the participants kept scanning “Vote no,” urging the citizens to join them. 

Members of the “New Armenia” Public Salvation Front will stay in the Liberty Square, while the ANC and PPA will return to the Square on December 7 to hold a rally there.

On Sunday at 8:00 pm - right after the closing of the polling stations - “New Armenia” Public Salvation Front, which includes the opposition “Heritage” party and “Founding Parliament” initiative, will call another rally. They are going to watch the live broadcast of vote count together and stay in the square till morning.

The “New Armenia” Front has launched open-ended rallies since Tuesday and the initiative members have been staying overnight in the Liberty Square in shifts for already two days.

The “You won’t pass” initiative, ANC and PPA today called a rally and march against the constitutional amendments in Armenia.
