“The gap created by the loss of Hrant Dink, who was fatally shot in front of Agos’ headquarters in 2007, cannot be filled although there are now more young people who are willing to talk about political issues,” stated Rober Koptas, the new editor-in-chief of the bilingual Armenian weekly Agos, Today’s Zaman reports.

“Nobody would be able to fill the gap created by the loss of Dink. But the younger generation is now more interested in the issues regarding the community. There are more young people who are willing to talk about political issues. It is a healthy development that more people voice differing opinions. However, fear and isolation have obstructed mechanisms regarding how those individuals can come together and voice one opinion together. Maybe we need a few more years in order to be able to do that,” Koptas said.
